Négrette, Fronton's heritage grape variety, unique in the world!
A unique character with aromas of black fruits, violets and spices... Obtained thanks to our local grape variety, Négrette, grown, vinified and matured at Château Clamens, in the Fronton appellation.
An age-old grape variety, brought to light by Pope Calixtus II in 1119, it represents 60% of the vines in our vineyard.

In the heart of the South-West, just outside Toulouse

Our 18 hectares of vines are located on an exceptional terroir 30km north of Toulouse, in the confidential Fronton appellation:
- The boulbènes (silt, sand and clay) and rouget (silt coloured with iron hydroxide) soils of the ancient terraces of the Tarn (alluvial terraces created by the erosion of the Massif Central mountains).
- The climate, oceanic with a Mediterranean influence, is very favourable: over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, relatively cool nights, little but regular rainfall.
Enough to orchestrate red and rosé wines around the Négrette, with fascinating aromatic intensity!
The renaissance of the estate

Stefan Heppelmann, who is as passionate about wine as he is about rugby, has been the proud owner of Château Clamens since 2012.
Originally from Munich, he chose to settle in the heart of the South-West of France! Supported by a young, dynamic team, he is determined to offer elegant wines with a real personality.
Stefan is crazy about rosé wine! That's why so much of the production is devoted to this colour!
